Effective Date: July 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how ShellyApps ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the DateRoulette mobile application (the "App").
This Privacy Policy works together with our Terms of Use. Where the two address the same subject, this Privacy Policy controls on matters of data handling, and the Terms of Use control on matters of app usage and conduct.
We aim to minimize data collection and only gather what is necessary to provide and improve the App:
When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from that provider. We do not receive or store your password — authentication is handled entirely by Google/Apple and Firebase Authentication.
Information you provide directly, such as your display name, date of birth, gender, country, and any profile photo you upload.
We collect approximate or precise geolocation (depending on the device permission you grant) to power location-based matching and discovery. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings, though this may limit the App's matching features.
The App's core feature is live video and audio conversation with other users, which requires camera and microphone access. Calls are transmitted directly between participants (peer-to-peer, via WebRTC) — we do not record, store, or have access to the video or audio content of your calls. A small amount of connection/signaling data (needed to establish the call) briefly passes through our servers and is deleted once the call connects or the connection attempt times out.
If you message another user through the App's chat feature, that message content is stored so both participants can see the conversation, until either participant deletes the conversation.
If you report or block another user, we collect information about the report (such as the reported user's identifier and the reason provided) to review the report and take appropriate action.
If you subscribe to a paid plan, your purchase is processed entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive confirmation that a purchase was made and its status (active, expired, etc.), but we do not receive or store your payment card details.
We collect non-personal technical data — such as device model, operating system version, and diagnostic/crash logs — to identify bugs and keep the App running reliably.
If you contact us directly (for example, by email), we keep a record of that communication to help resolve your request.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
We retain your account and profile information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your profile information and associated chat messages within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, safety, or fraud-prevention purposes (for example, records related to a report you filed or that was filed against you).
We implement industry-standard security measures — including encryption in transit, secure token-based authentication, and access-controlled databases — to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Depending on your jurisdiction (for example, under the GDPR in the EU/UK or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to:
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Section 10.
We are based in Israel and use service providers (see Section 3) that operate data centers in multiple countries. Your information may be processed or stored outside your own country. Where required by applicable law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
The App is not directed to individuals under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. We rely on the date of birth you provide and do not independently verify age. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take steps to remove it.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
